How to Download a YouTube Short
01 / FIND
Open the Short you want
Pause on the right video in the Shorts feed. Use its Share menu and select Copy link. On desktop, you can also copy the address while that specific Short is open. The channel’s Shorts tab shows several clips, so open one before copying.
02 / CHECK
Paste the clip’s link
For example, this Shorts link opens a single clip. You can fill in the same address with the Shorts example above. Check that the link points to the clip you intended, then select Download to prepare it.
03 / KEEP
Save the download
Select Save file when it appears. Your browser may ask where to put the file or save it to your configured Downloads folder. Check your browser’s downloads list for the finished transfer before closing the page.
Recognize a Link to One Short
A Shorts address usually has youtube.com/shorts/ followed by a video ID. YouTube’s Share menu can also return a shorter youtu.be link. What matters is that opening the link takes you to one recorded video. If you copied the address of a feed, search result, or channel, return to the clip and copy its own link.
Shorts often appear in a portrait player with swipe controls. The downloaded file comes from the video stream and keeps its original aspect ratio. For details about output resolution and sound, see YouTube Shorts to MP4. If your link opens a regular watch page, the YouTube to MP4 converter has instructions for regular videos. To save only the sound, use YouTube to MP3.
If the Clip Won’t Download
Open the link in a browser to make sure it still points to the intended Short. A deleted clip or a video that requires sign-in may fail the link check. A temporary YouTube request limit can also interrupt preparation. If the video is still accessible, try again later.
If you copied a link from a message, open it first and check where it leads. A shortened share URL can be valid, but copying the surrounding message can leave extra text in the box. Paste the URL on its own.
Each output file can be up to 500 MiB. Ready files are available for up to 20 minutes, so save the file in the same browser session when it is ready. Only save content you own or have permission to download, and follow the YouTube Terms of Service.
This tool saves a file through your browser. To play the saved copy later, open it from your device’s storage. The file does not appear in the YouTube app’s Downloads list.
Shorts Download Questions
Can I remove a watermark from a Short?
The downloader has no watermark removal feature. A logo, username, or caption burned into the video stays in the file. Buttons and controls drawn by the Shorts player are outside the video stream and are not part of the saved file.
Will the saved video be portrait or landscape?
The video keeps the aspect ratio of the source stream. A portrait Short stays portrait, and a square or landscape source keeps its shape.
Can I download multiple Shorts at once?
Submit one Short at a time. To save another, finish the current download, select Convert another, and paste the next clip’s link.
Can I save a Short from my phone?
Yes. Copy the link in YouTube, then open this page in your mobile browser. After saving, look in the browser’s downloads list or your device’s file manager.
